Horton batted first showing good intention from Warren (20), Blake, Mills and Glover but at 54 for 4 Sam Birch (19) and Patrick Bull (27) controlled the game (51 partnership). Some tidy finishing from Moffat, Robinson and young’n “Viggy” (7 no) finished Horton on 129.
Once the opening pair had gone (1 for Warren and Charter) the three spinners caused havoc with Robinson 4-0-16-2, Glover 1.3-0-4-2 and Blake 4-0-14-3 - Kettering all out for 80 and Horton in the final.

Final v ON’s

Horton took the field but with quick wickets found themselves 11 for 4 off 7. Matt Mills (39) and Sam Birch (49 no) then accelerated the score leaving Birch to continue with partners Bull (5), Moffat (20) and Charter (13 no) for a respectable 130.

Charter and Warren gave 100% against the openers with Warren second balling the big hitter. Soon though ON’s Basra hit a quick 50 so leaving the game to the middle order. Spin again proved to be a telling force with Robinsons 2 quick wickets setting up a level contest. In the end though a dogged performance from the middle order batting pair proved to be the difference.

Again the day was a great celebration for the competitive spirit of the House’s fine young talent.
