On another day for mixed weather Horton made the long away trip to Bretton Gate.
Having lost the toss and been asked to bat first, the openers Alex Mills (56) and Ewan Cox made a sensible start, adding 89 for the first wicket. Despite 48* from Ben Coddington and some quick runs from Harry Dube, we struggled to get any momentum with the bat, eventually finishing 203-6 from our 50 overs.
In reply, Peterborough got off to a similar start and at 114-4, with most of the top order dismissed, we were very much in with a chance. Unfortunately for us, ex first class player Rob Sayer put together a very fine 94 not out which took Peterborough to the target without the loss of any further wickets. Will Knibbs bowled his 15 overs straight through to return 3-47.
With a few more runs on the board and some more control with the ball it could have been a very tight game.
Next week the first team take on last years champions Finedon at Denton Road.
