On a day where there was no cricket until 4:45pm, most of the side spent there afternoons unable to leave their seats through a gripping series of 'Police Interceptors' and 'Can't Pay, We'll take it away' episodes. Safe to say everybody was thrilled when the umpires declared that play would be possible, with the rain finally easing.
In a reduced 22 overs game, Peterborough put us in to bat, and we reached a creditable 115-7 from our 22 overs against a strong opposition bowling attack. This was largely thanks to a n explosive 45 for Matt Mills in his second appearance for the club. Despite the rain picking up again the lads worked hard to ensure we took full batting points.
In reply, having to bowl in the rain with a wet ball for the entire innings, our bowlers found it difficult to restrict scoring. The Peterborough openers took full advantage of a wicket that had got damp, enabling the ball to skid onto the bat nicely, reaching the target for the loss of no wickets in just 15.1 overs.
Had the two sides bowled in the same conditions it could have been a much closer game, but unfortunately that's the way it goes sometimes. Next week we are away to Finedon.
