Horton Ladies defeat

Horton ladies faced Welbeck ladies first team.
After losing the toss, Horton were put into the field. Honor Austin and Freya Humphrey opened up the bowling and were hitting some fantastic lines and the batters didn’t look comfortable. However Welbeck got in to the swing of things and had a convincing start to the innings. They were going at 10 and over with no loss, making it look as though a big score was on its way. However that changed dramatically with wickets from Simone (2) Danielle Brockwell (2) Summer Keightley (5) - who also claimed a run out, which left Welbeck with 166 all out!
Horton started their batting attack strong with Simran Dehal (10) Abigail Passmore (18) opening up. After losing the first wicket, Sophie Bendon (18) came into the attack hitting some fantastic shots shortly joined by Danielle Brockwell claiming a solid 33. Simone then stood her ground whilst there was a batting collapse around her and managed to score 14 before being dismissed! Unfortunately it wasn’t Horton’s day after a strong fielding performance despite having to drop to 10 players due to a serious head injury we fell short finishing 139-9 in the 39th over. Overall a good day of cricket and some fantastic sportsmanship shown from both sides.
