We turned up to a lovely Poddington ground on a bright sunny day eager to start.
Winning the toss for the first time of the season we decided to have a bowl on what looked like it could be a tricky wicket. A superb opening spell from Tom Knibbs 10 - 6 - 15 -1, well supported by James Dadge, put us in a good position.
Dan Robinson came on to bowl his 10 overs and somehow didn't get the 3-4 wickets we all believed he deserved. Ben Jordan bowled at the other end with figures of 10 - 2 - 37 - 4. Stephen Finch and Finley Moffat kept it tight and we restricted Poddington to 176 from their 50 overs. A special mention to a superb boundary catch by Liam Redding and an overhead catch from James Dadge.
We were confident at tea this was a total we could chase especially with the players we had.
As all too familiar though we started the innings with a collapse never being able to recover. Some silly shots paired with some good bowling saw us to all out for 61.
A gloomy day however an honest chat and hopefully a positive training session this week will let us return to winning ways at Denton Road next week against the ON's.
