Horton House Second XI vs Brixworth Second XI

The first game of the season was at Denton Road for the second team.

With the wind blowing viciously we were put into bat by the opposition side.

After a solid enough start from our openers Tom Knibbs and David Morgan we quickly fell into the all too familiar collapse. Stephen Finch steadied the ship with an unbeaten 42 which managed to get us to 116 all out.

Whilst we sat at tea thinking about what just happened you could sense the confidence in the Brixworth side. However after emerging from the changing rooms and walking onto the pitch you could see the fight in the Horton lads.

Started off with a brilliant spell from Tom Knibbs taking 4-28 in his return to bowling, Brixworth felt the pressure. As always Stephen Finch applied the pressure even more with his 10 overs only going for 14 runs and taking a wicket in the process. Ben Jordan took advantage of the pressure Stephen Finch applied and with Finley Moffat taking the all important wicket of Mark Gouldstone only 1 wicket was required for Victory.

The batsmen came down the track and a superb piece of work by Riz Alam behind the stumps took the last wicket and a victory of 20 runs was had by Horton House.

An extremely thrilling game and a great start to the season by the Second Team with every member of the team having a part to play in the victory.

It is on to the next one away at Heyford who started their season with a victory also. Best of luck to all that play.
