Brixworth 2nd XI vs Horton house 2nd XI

The twos turned up to Brixworth with what we knew was a strong side.

Winning the toss on what looked a cloudy day and a good pitch we decided to have a bowl.

Some tight bowling from our openers kept them contained and James Dadge making the early breakthrough with Stephen Finch making the one hand slip catch.

Stephen Finch and Ben Jordan came on as first change and kept applying the pressure with more wickets. Finch finishing with outstanding figures of 10 - 4 - 7 - 2, Jordan with 9 - 0 - 35 - 1, the wicket consisting of another outstanding slip catch, this time from Mike Richardson. The ever consistent Dan Robinson didn't let any pressure slip and took 2 wickets finishing with 10 - 1 - 31 - 2. Elijah Glover came on and as always got an early wicket with an unbelievable 1 hand falling away catch from Dan Robinson.

The 2's didn't give in all the way till the end, James Dadge bowling a very good death spell in the process finishing with 8 - 1 - 36 - 1. Brixworth finished with 180.

We were confident we could reach this target however memories of previous results could of come into the mind.

Losing an early wicket, Riz Alam and Prabodh Kakodkar set about rebuilding. When Riz left for 30 and another wicket falling in the progress we were behind on the run rate, still confident though. Mike Richardson walked in at 5 and immediately put the pressure on Brixworth with some lovely powerful shots and some delicate placement for boundaries and singles. Needing 100 from 20 overs, Mike Richardson's 55 and constant runs from Prabodh Kakodkar left us with 31 needed off the last 10. We lost Mike needing just 21 and Rajul Singh made sure to come in and hit a massive 6 to calm our nerves.

Horton winning in 45 overs and Prabodh Kakodkar finishing on 62 not out, a sublime innings.

A well needed win for Horton and the 2's winning both games against Brixworth this year, this gives us the confidence to go into next week at home against Heyford who are top of the table.
