Wellingborough Indians vs Horton House 2nd XI

The 2's rocked up to Wellingborough Indians this week and the team look relaxed as ever.

Once again losing the toss Horton were put into bat.

Dan Robinson and David Morgan set about getting us a solid platform to push on from. Rick Faulkner on his return came in a pushed the tempo however as too familiar this season we began to falter in the middle overs. No one really being able to kick on after some decent starts and some good bowling on a difficult wicket saw us all out for 119 from 45 overs.

The opposition were walking around at tea with confidence. Thinking the job was done. Obviously not seeing what the Horton 2's are all about. We ourselves had confidence knowing no team has scored over 100 runs against us this year.

We needed an early breakthrough and on debut Vishal Mistry makes the batsmen over balance. Riz Alam standing up to the stumps for our opening bowlers sees the batsmen leave his crease for a fraction of a second and suddenly the bails were off. Rapid work from behind the stumps to get the first wicket and we knew were were in it. In just his second over Vishal Mistry took his second wicket. Pressure on!

When you say the word pressure Stephen Finch is usually close. A game changing spell of 10 overs 8 maidens 4 runs and 4 wickets had us in the drivers seat. Dan Robinson came on to take 2 wickets to get us to within 2 wickets for the win. An appeal from Finchy given not out but whilst everyone is watching the umpire Graham Harris was alert to run the batsmen out. A fine piece of fielding.

1 wicket needed.

With the pressure mounting their captain smashes one up in the air. The call was made early by David Morgan. After running in circles for the majority of the time the ball was in the air he steadied himself and took a fine catch as Horton took the win bowling Wellingborough Indians out for 72.

Another amazing victory for all the boys which takes us to 3rd in the table. Once again the standards in the field incredible and the fight in the boys outstanding.

Onto Wollaston at home next week and House are looking to get another win.
