On a gloomy saturday, it seemed an age until we got out onto the field. Losing the toss Horton were put into the field for a reduced 30 overs a side game.
Great opening spells from Rujul Singh and Zahid Mirza kept Stony under pressure and a rampant spin combination of Stephen Finch and Elijah Glover put Stony in a tough spot. As two batsmen tried to rebuild constant pressure from all the bowlers meant Stony could never get going.
As they tried to accelerate James Redding came on for his first bowl of the season and took 3 wickets. Some superb death bowling.
Stony got to 125, a score we knew we could chase if sensible.
Losing the early wicket of Prabodh didn't help however a superb display from Riz Alam and Phil Monkman, Riz getting his 50, put us in a superb position for our other batsmen to finish the game off. Our innings was pretty uneventful as we cruised to a victory and it was a pleasure to watch both Riz and Monkman control the tempo.
A win that helps us in the standings as we chase down the teams above.
We are back at home this week against Wellingborough Indians
