Skipper Street won the toss and with an array of spinners (and a slow bowler) in the side, decided to bat. The ball did a bit early on but things settled down as Mike and Zed laid a platform for the rest of the innings. We lost a series of wickets midway through but Ray and Viggy put on a mature partnership of 60+ towards the end. 177 was going to be very competitive if we got early wickets.
Barton got off to a flyer with 60 on the board in no time. The first wicket went in classic Div 8 fashion with an assured catch by Liam at very deep cow corner. The skipper continued to slowly chip away with a few wickets but Piddington reached a well worked 118 before being bowled by the returning Finlay. The damage however had been done.
Overall it was a creditable performance, particularly by the youngsters, more than enough to deserve staying in the division. A win in last 2 games will assure that.
