The 4th team were home against West Haddon & Guilsborough.
The match was the senior debut for John Jesu and Lewis Orton.
Horton won the toss and after much deliberation we decided that tea was of a decent quality to field first.
Lewis and Rob Willis opened the bowling. Rob was too good for the division and they could hardly get bat on ball and he returned impressive figures of 10-3-23-1 for his single spell. The game was however turned by Mitchell Boffin, who unlike Ben Jordan actually got some rip and turn and was virtually unplayable and dismantled West Haddon & Guilsborough 's middle order with 4 wickets. John Jesu took and incredible caught and bowled and it took the ever green Dick Steff to dismiss the opposition's captain who was getting all the runs. Our fielding was the best it has been all season and special mention to Geoff Dobson - he managed all his ten thousand steps.
After a Cherry Steff tea, batting second was not the one and we were 2 for 2 in 2. Which to be fair is better than the 5 for 5 in 5 that we have been in the past. Rotating the strike well Rob Willis (77) and yours truly managed a partnership of 118 to get us in touching distance of winning the game but despite the teams best efforts we came up short.
Irrespective of the results everyone in the team performed well and it showed us all that champions are made from incremental improvements - and today we made some huge steps towards that.
