Credit to Dick Steff who managed to prepare a wicket for us.
So with clear skies, Horton won the toss and put Mears Ashby into bat.
In probably the tightest spell of bowling and our best fielding display - with significant contributions from Elliot "the chef" Cantrell - the Legends restricted Mears Ashby to less than a 100 runs in the first 20 overs with John Jesu (JJ the 3rd) removing the openers. With Mears Ashby top of the table, this was no mean feat from Horton and kudos to everyone who raised their game. With the weather predicted to close in after tea, we offered Mears Ashby the declaration which they refused and ended on 257.
After tea the heavens opened and not a ball was bowled. So instead of Mears Ashby going for the win then ended up with a draw.
Next week home to OGs!!!
Nets on Wednesday - see you there!!!
