The last game of the season saw the Legends take on Geddington who needed 30 points from the match to assure promotion. This meant that there was something in the games to make it as spicy as the recent HHCC Curry Night.
Losing the toss (why do we even bother anymore I ask myself) we were asked to bat. Against an u19 county attack Adam Willis and Paul Das managed to offer some resistance as well as Lewis Orton with a swash-buckling 19 but that was unfortunately it and we were bowled out in the 32nd over which was whilst not ideal from a score point of view did demonstrate again that we are a difficult team to bowl out.
After tea, Geddington came out all guns blazing and despite two wickets for Harvey Cooke, Geddo got the total quite comfortably. Despite the prospect of promotion credit to Chris and the team from Geddington who showed great sportsmanship and played in an excellent spirit.
Looking back I wanted to say thank you to all the 50 players who represented the 4ths this season. Our club cannot progress without your contributions. It was a delight to see 4th team regulars in winning teams in the 2s and 3s this week - which shows that the results are not what is on play-cricket week-in-week out but in the long-term growth of players at Horton House and building on the work of the junior section. Next season we are in Division 13 which means the "Only way is Up!!!"
