Orton, Vignesh, Boffin and Pitt show bowling class. The young Indian Prince give a master class in power hitting.

The 4ths were away to Ketting this weekend and was a lovely day for cricket. With a fast outfield and a very good looking wicket it seemed like it was going to be a run feast and it was.

Winning the toss Kettering decided to bat and were soon piling on the runs. There were a few chances that came our way but they all fell safe despite heroics from John Jesu who almost pulled off the catch of the season. Since the batsmen were of a sufficiently high standard that they could score at will Lewis Orton and Vignesh Sushakar managed to rein them in and left George Pitt and Mitchell Boffin to go through the middle order. The final total of 396 seemed daunting but a super tea with magnificent cakes put that to rest.

Opening the innings Alan Pitt and Rujul Singh got us off to a great start and Rujul rode his luck to get close to his maiden on-debut tonne for Horton (a bit like Alex Mills). However, the middle order fell around him and he needed 30 runs with 2 batsmen left in the shed. And proof that age and guile will always outsmart youth and enthusiasm captain Paul Das (youth and enthusiasm) guided Rujul to 100 - to the delight of everyone at the ground!!!

Next week we will be keen to keep improving. We are home to Geddington
