Team: Marcus (capt), Harry A, Harry B (wk), Max, Joe, Ted, Harry S, Benji
On a pleasant Sunday morning at Denton Rd, Horton U11s hosted Brixworth A. Captain for the day Marcus promptly won the toss and after a little consultation invited the opposition to bat first. Some accurate bowling from Horton went largely unrewarded as a couple of the Brixworth batsmen enjoyed the conditions and batted rather well. Just 10 wides from the 16 overs was an excellent effort along some decent wicket-keeping from Harry B. The first wicket and ball of the day went to Benji, the flight and accuracy of which would have had a few seniors in trouble.
After squash and biscuits were enthusiastically attacked at the break it was Horton's turn to bat. Just the 3 Harry's this week and Marcus and Harry A got Horton of to a good start with 9 a piece. The target was always going to be a tough ask but the team stuck at it and were 52 runs short.
An encouraging performance to build on though. No game this Sunday and the next one is at home to Nether Heyford on 2nd June.
Cheers
Ian
