Thanush to the Rescue in last ball thriller....

We traveled over to West Haddon on Sunday morning still buzzing from last weeks great win. Henry won the toss for us and we chose to bowl and hoped to continue with much of the same as last week.
Unfortunately things didn't quite go to plan in the first half with West Haddon scoring fairly freely and in particularly they ran brilliantly between the wickets albeit we didn't really seem to be at match speed. We only picked up 3 wickets with Joe and Katie picking up a wicket a piece and a run out to leave west Haddon on 90 runs from their 16 overs.

We knew the game was in the balance and had to bat well to knock the runs off. Things didn't get off to a good start with Joe being hit by the opening quick, a silly run out from a miss field but we hung in there chipping away at the total. They bowled well initially but then the tide began to change with some good middle order batting from Cameron (11), Sammy (6) and some wayward bowling (29 wides, 9 no balls) meant the score crept up and left the last pair of Alfie and Thanush needing 15 to win from 4 overs. The opening bowlers came back on and kept it tight but Thanush smacked a couple of 4's to leave us needing 3 to win of the last 2 balls. Penultimate ball was a dot meaning we need 3 of the last ball with Thanush on strike, the bowler steamed in and was promptly cracked through cover point for 4 by Thanush (14).

Never in doubt!

We have a good under 11's team this year and i think it always show you have a good team if you win games even when you haven't played as well as you can do and that was us on Sunday. Plenty to work on Thursday night at training to get ourselves ready for Brixworth on Sunday.
