Another beautiful morning at Denton Rd for a top of the table clash against our Bucks neighbours Stony Stratford. Having played them through the age groups so far, we knew we were up against a good team. This proved to the case. Stony won the toss and elected to bat first. Captain for the day was Alex who rallied his troops in the pre match chat in the changing room. Good bowling and good fielding against some talented batsmen resulted in wickets for Ethan and Jared as well as a run out for Noah and an excellent catch by Joe. The lads stayed positive and enthusiastic in the field and restricted Stony to a respectable score.
The Rocket’s innings got off to a flyer with Joe hitting the first ball for four before some hesitant running resulted in two run outs all in the first over. Joe top scored with an impressive 25 whilst Ethan continued his fine form with 19. Running between the wickets is something we’ll work on over the next few weeks. Despite the shaky start, the lads remained positive against some sharp bowling. We fell short of Stony’s total but not through lack of effort and the team can be proud of their performance.
On we go to our second away game of the season against Brixworth.
