The Business End

We’re getting towards the end of the league season and we viewed today’s game as a tricky fixture. Saints have had a decent season so far so the team knew that they needed to be on their game. Captain for the day, Jeremy lost the toss but the opposition’s decision to field first suited us and we were happy to set them a total to chase. Noah and Eashaan opened the batting and shared a partnership of 25 runs for the loss of only one wicket. Another solid platform for the subsequent batters to build upon. The second pair of Jacob and Jeremy batted sensibly and ran well. There was some solid blows from in-form Jacob whilst Jeremy provided excellent support. The result being a partnership of 21 and more importantly no loss of wickets. The subsequent pairs continued the momentum with good placement, clear calling and running and vital runs to the total. The Rockets set a challenging total of 369-5.

Again the between innings chat was about sharp fielding, accurate bowling and encouragement for each other. This team really play as a team. Buckets loads of encouragement from everyone as well as tight fielding put significant pressure on the opposition. As a bowling unit, we only bowled 4 wide balls from our 16 overs, fantastic stuff! Highlights included 3 wickets a piece for Noah and Eashaan whilst conceding very little. There were also wickets for Alex, Ethan and Jeremy. The team also managed 3 run outs and there were catches for Jared (2), Eashaan (2) and Jacob who was solid behind the stumps again. A win by 73 runs was fully deserved.

Another very pleasing performance from the boys. We are now very much into the business end of the season with a home match against league leaders ONs on Sunday. We spoke briefly about the match in the end of game chat. The boys are up for it and if they play like they have done over the past few weeks, we’ve got a great chance of doing well. To help with selection, please ensure Pitchero is updated with availability for the remaining games. Thanks and see you at training on Friday.
