Horton U11 Phoenix v Stony

With Horton put into bat we set our selves the goal to bat well, as a group, and as pairs managing each set of 4 overs.

Eashaan and Freddie began with powerful hitting and contant turning over of the score. Manpreet and Bavanith follwed suit with well executed shots and keeping the runs ticking on. Joe Willard and Darshith, taking on Stony best bowlers, showed just how important it was to manage the game and play within our team goal. Oscar and Guershaan completed the innings with style and power. Well done to all pairs - a fine perfomance. Eashaan /Freddie 30 runs (no outs), Manpreet/Bavinth 26 runs (1 out), Joe and Darshith 11 runs (0 out), Guershaan/Oscar 48 runs (3 outs).

Bowling/Fielding we took the approach, led by Jow Willard (Cpt) and our prematch goals, that each bowler helped arrange their field, and bowl their line and lengths. Ably assisted, by Joe as Captain this proved in the end to be great development , against a table topping side.

In summary Eashans pace was ably backed up by Jo behind the stumps, Bavanith , Guershaan and Darshith bowling to strenghts (line and length) with Freddie and Manpreet showing their controlled pace and accuracy. With the last Stony pair and hitting hard a big well done to Oscar for sticking to his fielding plan and seeing out the pressure overs. 3 wkts for Guersaan, 1 for Darshith and Manpreet with great economy from Freddie and Manpreet keeping runs to a minimum.

A good resouding victory against one of the table toppers - a victory for the players on their game. well done guys.
