First appreciation must go to the home side for their patience, in waiting to start the game and offering a fair play contest, due to Horton fielding 6 players in the end.
Horton Bowling:
Regular bowlers, Aaryn, Darsinth, Kris and now Ruban (second game) must take credit for their bowling and fielding (led by Shuaja as Captain) as they accomplished theirs over with good economy. This innings though must go to two plyers who performed their tasks with outstanding skill. Shuaja for his, must be a record, 4 bowled wickets in one over and giving him a game fifer. And Harvey James, in his first ever game, and as wicket keeper both performed admirably.
Horton Batting:
Shuaja and Aaryn took on the new ball and quicker bowlers to set the scene with just 2 outs and double-digit scoring. Darshith and Ruban again showed their strength as a pair with good defensive play and turning over the runs. The game was close by this time, so the tension started to appear. Kris and debutant Harvey steadied the ship with great figures of 13 runs and no outs with a couple of very stylish shots for four. Last pair and again thanks to Cogenhoe, Darsith and Shuaja batted as the last pair with 3 runs to chase. After the first 6 balls they both put their foot down with confidence and scoring heavy giving Horton a 17-run victory.
Importantly the players, being down on player numbers, held their heads high, respected the other team and sort out the win with great sportsmanship.
Thanks again to parents for making the early morning effort and support during the game.
