Sunday saw Horton and Overstone u11's clash in a two innings match sponsored by Eat Curious. Horton won the toss and batted first.
Joe 22 & Harry 14 with 7 fours between them set the Horton innings off to a good start reaching 118-4 off their first 16 overs. Overstone's reply started brightly assisted with some poor catching and fielding. Seven dropped catch didnt help as Overstone ended their first innings on 130 - 2. A lead therefore of 12 going into the second innings. Henry with amazing figures of 2-3 was the pick of the bowlers. Both wickets stumped with the help of wicketkeeper Joe.
In Horton's second innings wickets were lost regularly and it was Joe again with 25 that took the total to 135-8 leaving Overstone 124 to win.
A great effort from all the Horton players with a much improved performance in the field. Wickets for Venkat, Harry, Divit, Lily and Daisy and two further stumpings for Joe reduced Overstone to 125- 9. The last over was a real nail biter with Harry needing to take one wicket and the away side blocking. An edge through slip and another false shot through square leg but it wasnt to be in the end with a win for Overstone.
A great day and a fantastic club occasion. All the children enjoyed an old fashioned cricket tea provided by the club after the match
