U13s v Northampton Saints home

This was very nearly the perfect performance against a very strong Northampton Saints side and had a couple of things not gone against us (Ben Meacham and Tom Hilton not going on to make big runs and Harry BS being felled by a couple of short ones and spending some hours in A&E) then we might well have executed our plans perfectly and won.
We batted first, targeted 120 and we ended up on 103 for 6. Again a good solid opening partnership from Harvey (14) and Josh (21) of 36 gave us a decent platform but despite some decent hitting from Olly, Tom, Freya and particularly George Leahy (16 not out) we fell a bit short of where we wanted to be.
At training the previous week we got the bowlers working on bowling fuller lengths and we agreed that if we hit those lengths and fielded well we still had a chance. It was really pleasing to see all of the bowlers (Tom, George, Ben , Miles, Josh and Freya) all bowl to a good length and with good control - Miles and George bowled the best overs that they have bowled all season - but with the County opening pair putting on 54 for the first wicket we were always struggling to defend the total and they got home with 3 overs and 7 wickets to spare. A special mention to Olly Pragnell for a fabulous fielding display - he saved at least 10 runs. Man of the match went to Josh Kilsby who has only been with us for a few weeks but has fitted in really well and has a tremendous natural talent and good attitude.
Given the previous week's Man of the Match overpopulation it was Tesco's budget / finest fizzy sweets - I owe Haribos to Ben, Josh and Harry BS to aid his recovery so that we get him back at the club soon.
