U13s v ONs away

A defeat against a very strong ONs but how we bowled and fielded was really encouraging. They batted first and despite their top 4 all being County batsmen we restricted them to 131 for 4 off 20 overs. All of the bowlers Miles Orton (4-0-19-0), Josh Kilsby (4-0-16-0), Arthur Proctor (4-0-33-1), Tom Hilton (4-0-29-1), Buddy Keightly (2-0-6-2) and Vinny Keadell (2-0-10-0) all bowled really well and were backed up by excellent fielding and we held 3 good catches. I umpired at Josh, Tom and Vinny's end and plenty of very decent deliveries were flicked for four by very accomplished batsman so it was a really good effort.

In fading light against a couple of very rapid and excellent opening bowlers we struggled and only Tom Hilton (15) offered resistance and we were all out for 36. I told the lads at the end to forget about the batting and focus on the very positive fielding and bowling and in how we looked as a team. I was pleased that we gave some very good batsmen a really good test and that they had to reach the 11th over before they retired on 30 not out. We also had a young side (only 4 U13s) so it was a very good and determined effort.
