Nail biting finish to a well played game.
Horton took the field to face some tidy bowling. Harry Bennett-Sulsh and Anvit Arkenarth soon though stamped their mark with Harry soon peppering the boundary and Anvit providing the support (50 for the first wicket), Harry retired (31) with Anvit then taking the game to the opposition (25). Jake Monk was unlucky batting next with Thanush Devadasan (7) and Vincent Keadall (9) then smashing the ball around towards the end of the innings. Harry Farbon (5) put on some valuable last minute runs.
Hortons bowling faced quite possibly the best openers in this age group but Jake Monk and Samuel Mullaney as opening bowlers tied them down to just singles with a couple of very close call decisions, Samuel beating the bat several times. First change Jake Barnes went well for his first time at the square followed by Thanush and Harry B unleashing some thunderbolts mid innings.
The game seemed to match both wickets throughout the innings thus leaving ultimately the last few overs to decide the match. Harry Farbon and Max Botherill both were bold enough to take the final overs and almost saw us through to the end just missing out with 3 balls left. Special mention goes to Josh Denton who provided 12th man support and was excellent in the field. Harry BS for his excellent Captaincy
In all a very welcome and anticipated game, warmly received with lots of support by both supporters. Horton played well and showed this could be the beginning of a very strong team.
