U13's V ONs U13's

The visit to ON's saw a somewhat uneven outfield but warm reception. Sam Mullaney (Capt) won the toss and decided to bowl first utilising our bowling attack. This proved a good decision in taking an excellent C&B first wicket (County opener) followed by Arthur Proctor's dead ball bowling the second. A tidy, ggod length bowling display followed from Ansul Poothi (3 overs 7 runs), and Thanush, Keadall and Scott all coming in with similar figures of 5 an over. The bowling was sharp and made the batsman play but overall the batting side (3 Counties players) ground out a score of 115 over 20 overs. Well done to Jake Monk keeping on a hard and sometimes grassless field.

With 115 to chase Horton set out with Anvit Arkanath (12) and Sam Mullaney in control of the pacey openers. Bowling with consistent line and length though and more pace in the first changes ON's slowly took the wickets. An unlucky innings from Arthur Proctor (ct from a bouncer) and a run out to Thanush Devadasan the chase looked out of reach. A tidy and enthusiastic innings from Josh Denton though showed well with back up from Zach and Jake at the end who to their credit were then facing the pacey openers.
A mention to Sam Mullaney who Captained well for his first game and also to Finn Herrington (Coach assistant) who provided on field support and advice to the team.

Next game is Monday 10th August vs Saints at Home. Players will be required to assist in setting up and closing down. as usual and Parents/volunteers assistance is very welcome. Bar and refreshments will be open provided there is volunteers support.

Second game of the season with four to play gives us a great opportunity for some more great performances all round.
