Horton U13's side was a mix of layers throughout the age groups for the Inaugural U13 T20 Tournament. Games were 20 overs per innings, power plays, free hits with Final and Semi-final playing for the winners 2023 shield.
Order of the day for Horton:1
First game against North Crawley ably captained by Henry Gallagher put the visitors in to bat after winning the toss. Horton soon set about the visitors with pace and Guile from Alfie, Rory, Jarrad, Alex and Jacob. Spin bowlers Jeremy, Noah, Ryan and Aarav. With nowhere to turn and immense fielding as one group Horton sliced through Crawley with pace, power and turn. Visitors all out for 46 in 20 overs.
William and Henry opened Horton innings providing a fine base for then Alex and Jacob to carry us through after just 7 overs - final here we come.
Game 2 Final v Overstone:
winning the toss Overstone decided to bat which didn’t phase our Captain Ryan and the inspired team who were full of anticipation for a trophy. Alfie was on the money with two wickets in his two overs and Henry also steaming in took two wickets as well. If Overstone where a bit shocked over the first four batsmen going for under 20 runs they definitely where when Jeremey, William, Joe and Rory took out the next 4 giving Horton a total of 59 to chase. Game on.
William opened with Alex and then Rory cam in with Ryan the final batsman needed to take us over the line in just 12 overs - Horton Champions.
The day was full of players playing cricket in an exceptional way for a team so young, Alfie's pace and power at the beginning, Joe Willard’s catch, field placings, backing up, support of all players, Ryan’s stumpings and keeping guile, Alex's enthusiasm, Rory's pace, Henry's Captaincy, Aarav’s wickets, Jeremy's spin, Jacobs fielding, Noah's guile, Jarrad’s bowling/fielding and Williams bravery are all too many to mention.
Most pleasing thing to see on the field - Hortons players total support of all actions when a chance wasnt taken, a misfield or catch not taken. Total support form ALL the players, a very fine thing to see.
Finally, to the club for support of the day and the support, who I think really appreciated the sights they were seeing - cricket played in a very fine way.
