U15's ‘A’ vs Brixworth - Win for Horton

On Wednesday evening the Under 15’s ‘A’ team got the 2021 campaign off to a great start with a win over Brixworth.

Losing the toss, Horton were asked to bat 1st. The opening pair of Harvey & Harry demonstrated how great game awareness, communications and batting skills are all key in crafting a great partnership to reach 70 without loss off the first 11 overs, before Harvey retired 40 Not Out (as per league guidance). The 12th over brought 2 quick wickets first with Harry being bowled for 26 followed by Asad who was caught trying to go over the top of the ring of fielders just a couple of balls later. Now on 71 for 2 Ben joined Freya at the crease where the pair once again demonstrated great team work to drive forward the Horton score to ensure a strong target was to be set. In the final over Ben was caught for 32. This allowed Miles to join Freya to see out the remaining few balls of the innings both finishing Not Out. This strong batting performance from the team saw us finish the innings on 123 for 3.

George opened the bowling for Horton and made the best start possible with a wicket on the first delivery thanks to a Vinnie’s safe hands. Two overs later George was at it again with 2 more wickets in 2 balls and a hat-trick opportunity denied, but ending up with 3 wickets for 8 runs off his 4 overs.
A change of bowlers saw Miles bowl some very troubling deliveries (2 wickets for 1 run off 3 overs). At the other end Freya showed what bowling line & length achieves, knocking the stumps over twice and a picking up a plumb LBW to finish on 3 wickets for 10 runs off 3 overs.
A wicket each for Ben P and Asad and some good bowling with reward from Ben & Vinnie, kept the away side short of the required target as they reached 95 for 9.

In the field an under 15’s debut for Joey behind the stump and some acrobatic fielding from Harry supported the bowlers well.

A great team effort from all the players and a great start to the 2021 season!
