This week we played our last league fixture of the 2023 U17's competition, at home to Wellingborough. A rain delay just before the game was due to commence saw us playing a reduced overs match of 14 overs per side.

Batting 1st the visitors lost wickets early, delaying their progress with the score, eventually reaching 82 for 8. 3 wickets each for Anshul (3 for 17 off 3 overs) & Harry F (3 for 12 of 2 overs) plus 1 for Ben M. Some inspired moments in the field saw Ben M pick up a direct hit run out and Jake scoop up a diving catch in the deep that many an Test Cricket player would be proud to have achieved.

In reply Horton took their time... but with Anshul 45 (n.o) & Ben M 28 (n.o.), the chase was perfectly judged with 5 balls to spare. Horton ending on 85 for 2.

The win secures Horton in Joint 2nd place in the U17's league. Congratulations to all the players of this achievement.

- Anshul - Toping the league batting ranking having accumulated 296 runs in the 8 matches he played
- Harvey - Toping the league fielding rankings with 5 'victims'
- Anvit, Ben P & Freya all featuring in the Top 10 in the league bowling rankings
- Harry F, Ben M & Ben P all featuring in the Top 10 in the league fielding rankings

Next Thursday we start the U17's Knockout Cup competition with a home tie versus Finedon Dolben.
