Northampton Saints were the visitors to Denton Road on Monday. The Horton u13 sixers looking for a strong top 4 league finish. Hopes were dented however by a convincing loss.

Batting first Saints got of the the best possible start with a 50 run opening partnership. Their innings fell away a little as the bowling got on top with paceman Aunnay 2-14 the pick of the bowlers. The Saints score was aided by an incredible 61 extras of which 49 were wides and no balls. The Horton youngsters bowling inconsistent lines not allowing captain Erin to exert any pressure in the field. Saints finishing on an impressive 160 -7 off their 20 overs.

So 8 an over was the target with the sixers determined to make a go of it. Only leading run scorer for the season Oscar with 19 and Charlie B with 11 got into double figures and with wickets being lost at regular intervals the home side were bowled out for 91 in 17.4 overs.

Saints conceded just 19 extras and bowled just 2 wides.

Although a 69 run loss, Horton scored just 22 runs less off the bat.......lots of good learning for the young team to work for their next game.
